ABOUT US
The Oku Cultural and Development Association began in Bamenda around the sixties with membership from Oku and other villages. At that time it was simply called Oku Meeting with pioneer members in the likes of; Peter Jaiji, Pa Baijong, Fai Nkwah, Jacob Cheng, Peter Gham, John Chimbum, Edisu Nchiaji, Moses Nchiaji, Pa Ngube, Lucas Ngum,Mariam Cheng etc. This was possibly the first ever cultural meeting in Bamenda. The Oku juju dance (subi) sprang-up and became a strong rallying force with the first public show on the 1st of October 1967.
Mother OCDA Bamenda did not only give birth to other branches but had to tickle other villages in the provincial capital to create various development associations. The Oku cultural and development association (OCDA) has stood the taste of time and now spreading all over the national territory, American and Europe.
Today even admist the sociopolitical and economic crisis OCDA Bamenda is still standing strong and leaving no stone unturned to promote love, peace and unity in culture and development.
OCDA is the one and only party that has been prescribed for all sons and daughters of Oku by His Royal Majesty Fon Ngum the Fourth.
