THE FON OF OKU KINGDOM

HRM Fon Ngum IV was born on the 8th of January 1995 in Elak Oku, Oku Sub Division in the present North-West Region of Cameroon.  He was born as a prince of the Oku Kingdom under the reign of HRM Fon Ngum III who was his father and Queen Yenshie (presently Nontock Yenshie). He attended the local Primary School CBC Elak-Oku, and then moved to Government High School Baba I Ndop in pursuit of secondary education. After obtaining his GCE Advanced Level he enrolled for an LLB in Public Law at The University of Bamenda in Cameroon where he graduated in 2019.

In 2021, HRM Fon Ngum IV succeeded Fon Sintieh II and was crowned the 16th Fon of Oku at the age of 25. Fon Ngum’s pragmatism and his prudence in managing people, directing events such as his public coronation and celebration, are demonstrations of his great potential.  Okus far and wide are looking to him to turn the tide of development to favor the entire community, irrespective of political affiliations or adherence, to shape a brighter future for the people.

HRM is a Paralegal Aid and has professional expertise in general public administration where he has proven to be exemplary in coordinating and supporting the work of community members. Over the last two years, he has developed a keen interest on youth, culture and peacebuilding motivated by the crisis in his region of origin. His current mission is to ensure peace and social cohesion for the well-being of his grassroots people by advocating for the rule of law and promoting local and grassroots policy mechanisms, procedures and structures for harnessing access to information and services in the domains of education, cultural and civic participation, social support, human rights and health for poor resource and grassroots people in his kingdom.
